Proper research drives all great design. We are expert in seeing the world through the eyes of the end-user. We’ve traversed backcountry mountains on skis, carved the gnarliest trails on carbon frames, observed doctors and technicians in major hospitals, practiced treatments on 3D printed hearts, and spent late nights in international airports to observe the movements of passengers. This provides our team with real context: identifies challenges, highlights opportunities, and helps us better understand the needs of the user.
We navigate the challenges of product development, with a user-driven, iterative approach, to successfully lead projects from concept to production.
Research
Proper research drives all great design. We’ve traversed backcountry mountains and slept in ice-caves, carved the gnarliest trails on carbon frames, observed clinical technicians in major paediatric hospitals, practiced procedures on 3D printed hearts, and spent late nights in international airports to observe the behaviours of passengers. This provides our team with real-world context, identifies risk and challenges, and helps us highlight key areas of opportunity to further explore.
Identify
Our designers examine all aspects of a project to identify risks, constraints, and industry related best-practices. We research markets, trends, aesthetic drivers, CMFT, and opportunities for intellectual property. This foresight not only aids to a smoother process but also helps to ensure that the end product is economically viable and commercially successful.
Envision
Armed with an intimate understanding of the end user, market, and manufacturing targets, we rapidly explore design options. We do this through a mixture of sketching, sketch CAD, and 3D visualisation.
A sensitivity to brand identity is paramount as our work often spans across existing product lines, or looks to envision the next-generation.
Projects that are more technically geared often benefit from configuration studies, in order to best eliminate redundancies as early as possible.
Our overal goal is to find a symbiotic relationship whereby function drives form and form communicates function.
Make
Design concepts are best understood as 3D objects that can be held, played with, scrutinised, tested, and shared with end users. We use a mixture of soft modelling techniques, full scale CNC foam models, 3D printed models, and machined plastic parts.
Review
An iterative and dynamic process works best through regular and open communication between our ID teams, engineers, vendors, and clients.
We value the opportunity to share critique as we pursue better, more refined solutions.
Develop & Refine
Our ID team and engineers operate a variety of CAD programs dependant on the requirements and complexity of the project. We can work in varying group sizes to build components and assemblies during the various stages of design and engineering activities.
Prototype
The Concept Design stage typically culminates in a high-fidelity prototypes. Many start-ups use this prototype for crowdfunding campaigns, securing funds, and marketing material. High-fidelity prototypes offer an invaluable opportunity to evaluate internally, test the market, and display at trade shows.
Validate
Trials are done with models or prototypes to learn more about the design at various stages of the process.
Design for Manufacture
We lead projects from concept to completion. By understanding both the capabilities and limitations of manufacturing, we intelligently and confidently tackle the many challenges that occur during design for manufacture. We have extensive experience in enclosure design, ingress protection, light pipe design, and heatsinks. We utilize Finite Element Analysis, drop testing, and water and dust ingress tests. We engage with a wide range of vendors and have longstanding relationships with manufacturing partners in North America and Asia. These partnerships allow us to retain control over design decisions, ensuring the product vision is honored throughout the process.
Marketing Visualisation
3D visualisation provides an accessible, highly creative, cost affective alternative to traditional product photography. Our team has extensive experience working with major technology brands to create compelling marketing imagery and product photography.
We take pride in our ability to adapt to the unique needs and constraints of every project.

Develop
A considerable amount of design work is done with CAD. We can work in varying group sizes to build components and assemblies during the various stages of design and engineering activities.
Review
Ideas are discussed amongst our team and with our clients. We value the opportunity to share thoughts and critique our work as we pursue better solutions.
Refine
Multiple iterations, testing, and refining allows us to continuously improve a design.
Prototype
The Concept Design stage typically culminates in a high-fidelity prototype that showcases both the function and aesthetic of the chosen design. Many start-ups use this prototype for crowdfunding campaigns, securing funds, and marketing material. High-fidelity models offer established businesses a real life object with which they can evaluate internally, test the market, and display at trade shows.
Validate
Trials are done with models or prototypes to learn more about the design at various stages of the process. We assess the functionality, to improve features and measure the performance.
