Ultra fast, self-serve bag-drop improves check-in speeds
The CheckItXpress baggage drop was designed to improve the user experience of checking in bags. Innovations include a low horizontal loading section for placing bags and a user-friendly kiosk interface. Form3 worked with Innovative Travel Solutions (ITS), the innovation team at Vancouver International Airport (YVR), voted North America’s Best Airport for eight straight years by Skytrax World Airport Awards.
Form3 designed the self-serve, wheelchair accessible baggage drop to be familiar and easy to use regardless of age or mobility. The horizontal conveyor section is only 10 centimeters above the floor and accessible from the side or the rear of the conveyor mechanism making it easy to place bags regardless of size or weight. Ramps allow passengers to wheel their bags directly onto the conveyor without lifting. Complete processing time is under 10 seconds, which is four times faster than regular baggage drops. A user-friendly interface and lighting effects direct the user where to place the bag and ensure that the tags are correctly displayed, making the experience of dropping off bags fast and pleasant.
