"...I learned to look at the world differently when I lived in Vancouver, and how to see the material objects in the world in a rearranged way, and that had a profound impact on my role as an artist, even to this day. Perhaps it’s a sign of my own mid-life maturity whereupon I feel nostalgic for that time of experimentation, openness and curiosity not just towards the world we see around us, but to the unseen and the mystical. Knowing that Vancouver is still on the edge of sublime wilderness and that mushrooms can grow through pavement is reassuring to me. Perhaps I only caught the tail end of that psychedelic period but I am grateful of that time in my life, and the possibility of the city to expand consciousness and to dematerialize completely.”

Working with Brian Jungen
Form3 worked closely with the artist to translate his vision into a physical installation, developing solutions that balanced the artistic intent with the structural, fabrication and installation requirements of the project. Complex arrangements of shapes were generated virtually to reflect the desired configurations, while developing solutions for structure, manufacturing and assembly. Chair elements, fastened to custom steel connections and support elements were all designed to address fabrication and installation challenges, while respecting weight and cost constraints. Project management include coordination of the structural engineers and component suppliers, design optimization efforts, mock-up and site reviews, budget and schedule control.
